Knowles Riot over English impressment in Boston

Description

Harborsde residents and sailors protest impressment of locals by British naval commander Charles Knowles. Rioting continued for three days until Knowles released the impressed men. Boston's biggest riot prior to that attending Stamp Act opposition in 1765. Provided Samuel Adams with his first sense of the legitimacy and productive uses of mob action.
